B&B at the Bartlett Farm, a rural Bed and Breakfast in Guilford CT
B&B at the Bartlett Farm, a rural Bed and Breakfast in Guilford CTExperience a quaint rural farm and the nearness of historic sites and major cities. Located in North Guilford, the center of historic Guilford is only 15 minutes away and the cultural center of New Haven is 25 minutes.

The farmhouse at Bartlett Farm has been in the Bartlett family since it was built in 1784. The house was updated in the 1990's, while the surrounding farm is a work in progress. Bartlett Farm is active year round, Maple syruping in late winter, maintaining a small garden, and haying fields throughout the spring and summer, fall foliage in October and finishing the year with Christmas trees.

The farm has a menagerie of animals that require daily care and attention, including Fallow Deer, A Buffalo and Donkey, Pigs, Ducks, Cattle and Sheep.

Eating area and Living roomLiving room and eating area. The common living room has a working fireplace and a TV, where guests can relax before they head out for the evening or when they return. When the weather is warm enough the wrap around porch is a great place for catching up on your reading or just relaxing. A continental plus breakfast is served on weekdays and a full farm style breakfast is available on weekends. We try to include the foods produced on the farm when seasonally possible.

We have three bedrooms available, each with a private bath, in-room television and air conditioning. We also have free wireless Internet.

The Winter RoomWinter Room. The Winter Bedroom has one queen size bed and a unique corner bathroom. Granny and Gramps spent winters in this cozy room located in the southeast corner, but moved to a room above the woodshed for the summer. The summer room had plenty of windows and a great cross breeze. In the days before insulation and air-conditioning seasonal bedrooms were a necessary luxury.

Aunt Bertha's RoomAunt Bertha's Room. Aunt Bertha's Room now has a queen size bed. After her husbands death Bertha, Gramps sister, spent her summers in Maine and visited her brother each winter. She divided her time in this way until she could no longer travel. This cozy room is located in the southwest corner, with a view of the garden and back pasture.

The Guest RoomThe Guest Room. The Guest room has one queen and one full size bed. The bath is located where the original bath was placed when indoor plumbing became available, because it is in a private adjoining hall the bedroom is quite spacious. This room is where guests, including grandchildren stayed when they came to visit. In days past, Aldo the farmhand, awakened guests at 6:30 am by calling to them from outside their window. Unlike present day, Granny served breakfast by 7:00 am, and late sleepers went hungry.

Our Family. Sam and Diana and their young twins occupy a portion of the house separate from the B&B. Their family also includes a golden retriever and three cats.

A love of animals and small children is a plus, but a constant effort is made to keep both children and pets in their separate quarters. Guests are asked not to allow the animals into the bedrooms and visits to the common areas are limited.
